I have spent time with a client lately that considered selling her fabulous property to a developer and using the money to purchase a condo. Her home is tiny and very old. It needs plumbing, windows, wiring a furnace and roof. The foundation is crumbling and there is a problem with mold.
The house is where she has lived most of her life and very close to a scenic river which she loves. She lives in a very comfortable area with shops, beautiful gardens, mature trees, and great neighbors. Near by are restaurants and shops and a theater.
She checked with local regulations, called a builder and an architect and with everything in place she is now packing, moving to a furnished apartment, storing her treasured possessions, having the home torn down and a modern new home built on the land. It has been emotional sorting through years of memories and yet she is motivated by this amazing dream.
The new home will be a two story but everything she needs to live independently as a senior will be on the ground floor.
She is a very talented widow with no children and I personally am touched by what she is doing.
